High School Chemistry Teacher
Dr. Sharon Ballard has been an educator with the Rockford IQRA School since 2015. Dr. Ballard currently teaches high school chemistry at IQRA. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Wheaton College and both a M.S. in Curriculum Instruction and Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from Northern Illinois University. She has been the K-12 Science Coordinator for Rockford Public Schools for the past 18 years. As the science coordinator, Dr. Ballard has: developed curriculum and aligned it with the state standards, developed assessments and instructional materials, conducted staff workshops on a variety of topics, chaired committees to select textbooks and resources, mentored teachers, coordinated projects and developed grants with a variety of community organizations such as Burpee Museum, Discovery Center and Klehm Arboretum. Since retiring, she has taught Chemistry 099 at Rock Valley College for two years and has volunteered for one year at Spectrum School teaching pre-chemistry to 7-8th grade students. In her free time, Dr. Ballard and her husband lead a junior youth group and are very active in their church.
